A Message From Ian Bell Regarding The Launch Issues

In PC1-2 and AMS2 I just turn off rules and penalties and don't cheat. If I make a mistake and gain advantage over the AI, I just give the place back. Works great.
Oh my.. that just got me thinking..

I had to go back and check on pC2 and you're right.. it never was fixed.. we just ran all of our league races with penalties off and trusted each other instead. It just became the norm and I'd completely forgotten about it.

Hopefully track limits get fixed this time around!

Well, currently the penalty system is dependent not only on the static track limits from my observations (which are really too strict in several places at several tracks). It also takes in account deltas and how much you gain cutting the corner. Sometimes when you cut a corner a lot and lift then giving back the time not waiting for penalty - it doesn't even issue a warning, other time when you go the corner clean and fast hitting the curb just a little bit - it issues a penalty (Zolder for example). And probably, because there are definitely some other issues with deltas, sometimes the system can get mad. I love the concept of the current penalty system, and I think after some polishing it will be great indeed.

I remember reading somewhere from S4 that lifting during or immediately after a perceived transgression can offset any subsequent penalty.. which reminds me of the system utilised in Forza Motorsport 4. I still recall the chicane after the first corner at Road Atlanta.. if you cut it at all while on the throttle, a penalty/invalidation occurred... but if you stayed off the power you could really attack the kerbs.

Yep, S4 acknowledged they are working on it:

I seem to remember that track limit violations and penalties were also a source of great consternation when pC2 was released.. which took quite some time to perfect.. but ended up being really good.

Perhaps the balancing of limits/penalties and speed detection is rather harder than any of us realise.

Hopefully, seeing that pC2 had the same issues, we'll see much better behaviour before too long.
That's right. There were also problems with the track limit in PC2. The same with the deceleration penalty and the percentage of track departure. The deceleration penalty was eventually removed, I hope we get rid of it here in PMR as well. The track departure should be set so that if the car leaves the track boundary with its entire width, then a warning should come. The warning could come 3x, 5x, then the second-based penalties. And if I remember correctly, there was a delayed elimination, depending on how much time we gained or did not gain by leaving the track, and in the latter case there was no penalty or it was withdrawn. But I don't remember exactly.

The holiday came at a bad time for them , What this needs is regular updates and fixes to give those who have paid and those that are on the fence about buying (like me) confidence in the product and the studio.
The offline career was the only draw for me as that is missing from all other sims currently so could be great but with AMS2 and LMU career modes both in the pipeline they need to act fast.

The penalty system is still illogical. Even if I'm in last place, it still tells me to slow down and give up my place. To whom?
Anyway, this slowing down during the race is not practical, because it's dangerous to have an accident. The giving up of my place could be solved, if I give it back within one lap, then there is no penalty. And it doesn't endanger anyone.

Should give you warnings first then if you keep on doing it add the penalty time to the final race results.
Or even a drive through would be more realistic.
