The General Motorsport Discussion Thread

Managed to watch a good chunk of it over the coure of the day, some very good racing, even deep into the field and early on. At the end, just after the two Mercedes basically took each other out like an online public lobby race, my power went out. There was some swearing. I'll have to find the replay on Youtube to see how it all turned out.

Edit: Wow, I missed some stuff both when I stepped away with my wife and after the lights went out after I got back! WTH was that before Forrest's Elbow??? And there were some tempers and brain fades going on at the end for sure.

I got a few hours of shuteye before getting up at 5:30am to watch it from the start. Getting harder to pull an all-nighter+ as i get older, lol.

I'd say the incident at Forrest's was likely error on the flag marshalls part. They really should've had yellows waving much further up the track to warn the drivers sooner, like at least another marshall post or two back.
Shame the Mustang got taken out so early, i would've liked to see what it could do. Yeah, few brain fades near the end. The coloured BMW and the orange AMG coming together at turn 1 after the restart with 40 mins left, that didn't need to happen.

Good race overall, though.

I had high expectations for that BH12h. One of the best races of the year. I was prepared for the weekend. Me & my son came to our cabin to spend our winter holiday (ski holiday as we Finns called it) for a week. After all hard work that needs to be done before getting cabin inside temps above +15⁰C (starting point -15⁰C), I ended up to our cosy armchair with all the goodies and nice beverages around me.

First 2h went like usually it does, behind safety car more or less. I felt sorry for that Mustang too. It was a pure luck that Chris Mies didn't hurt severely, because race cars, like civil vehicles ain't built for taking an impact on a windshield +100kph. He had almost double (speed) when collided with that Skippy.

Eventually snoring started and my son put a blanket on me and I kept sleeping in that same armchair for next 10h. So this year I failed badly. I'm gonna watch that missed 9h later. I'm getting old too. Not just grumpy, but grey as well.. 😅

The 12h actually happens at the perfect time here, starts around noon and ends around midnight on a usually otherwise uneventful winter Saturday so it's one I usually watch a lot of. Just had a lot on the go this time round so some good bits were missed. Of course, I also missed some long safety car or stopped race periods, so there's that.

^ All good at my end, no region locking here.

I went to youtube to look for something, and this video popped up. Then i forgot why i opened youtube in the first place..

Damn that Valkyrie looks and sounds sooo good.

And that shot through the fence around the 4:36 mark- I really like how you can see the slip angle and sliding around these cars do when pushing. I don't think many people realize how much they really move around.

Keep meaning to reply to this one as well, off-road is awesome and some of the vehicles are WILD pieces of engineering. Mint is always a rough one. Little tough to follow long course and point to point racing as a spectator though, especially as these aren't exactly in places with any infrastructure, always grateful for whatever coverage we get. Starlink is helping them get footage out there for sure.

Wish there was a better game covering SCORE racing. The Dakar game isn't bad but it's not the same thing, and it's more of a wayfinding game with a bit of racing and vehicle simulation rather than the other way around. Pretty sad that the game that does off road the best is a ten year old road racing game that had not enoygh dirt content for it and a demolition derby game, and it's sequel...

Just watched Qualies and had to pause the stream when I saw BMW G81 wagon on track.. I've missed this project and April fools earlier totally so this was new to me.

That BMW GT3 wagon reminds me of Triple Eight's custom Holden Sandman that they used to test the twin turbo V6 engine they were developing back in 2017, but decided to scrap it (the engine).
Ever seen a race car with surfboards on the roof?

And here it is with more of a race car setup, running exhibition laps of the V6 at Bathurst 2017. Unfortunately it never raced, i think it was just a test mule & ride day car.

I think F1 teams should watch this and take notes on how a V6 turbo should sound.

That's the part I'd like the see improved in PMR. You can see the cars slide but then re-grip. They keep going as if nothing happened. Right now with the GT3 and GT4 cars (might be with the LMDh but I don't drive them enough) when the grip falls off the cars go into this odd slippery mode that doesn't naturally re-grip.

Yes indeed. I've been noticing this with the N-GT's. They feel pretty good just up to that point and then, gone.

Not region blocked here! Watched as much of Sebring as I could over Saturday, seemed like one of the better ones over the last few years.

While this is Women's History Month, this is a good interview regardless of the timing:

Not quite racing, but these are certainly racing related. I saw both of these on tv a while back.
