Yes, when I overtake you, you'll see me in the rearview mirror. I'll wave with the controller.See you on the track.......... (in my rear view)![]()
right, i never understood when ppl talk about simracing with a controller or has anyone seen any car IRL with gamepads instead of rimsMy wheel arrived today and though I do not have much time in PMR, yet, my initial exposure was with a gamepad. Was not a fan. Reading about PMR it seemed geared for Sim racing, so got the Moza 3 bundle. Hooked it up and of course will need to retrain musle memory on the tacks, but OMG!!!!!!! Night and day difference.
Ditch the gamepads and buy a wheel.

I think everyone should play however they want. Many people may not understand, but first and foremost, it's about having fun. For example, I have a Siberian husky (see picture) and I walk him for 3 to 4 hours every day. And I've been doing that for almost 7 years. I enjoy it, but others say it's not for them. Everyone has different ideas, and I think that's fine. It's still a game. You can find a real sim at Verstappen and Co. You can't get something like that for 60 euros, even if it's hard for you to understand. But that's life.right, i never understood when ppl talk about simracing with a controller or has anyone seen any car IRL with gamepads instead of rims
rumble pack buzzers in their hand instead of force feedback?
feeling physics with a stick?
driving with a view 5 meters back of their car?
not really.
This is arcade, sure much fun, but not sim racing.
I think if you want to be a driver instead of a gamer, you need a rim, pedals and definitely drive in cockpit view.![]()
Utter nonsense.. what a ridiculously pompous and misguided thing to say.right, i never understood when ppl talk about simracing with a controller or has anyone seen any car IRL with gamepads instead of rims

...and some simply does'nt want toPlus, not everyone has the money or space to set up a full sim rig. Some of us would like to, but we just can't.
And another thing.. One of the guys in my old P-Cars 2 league, he was in a wheelchair. So he kinda had to use a controller. And he was quite fast with it.
A person in a wheelchair can't use a sim rig, can they? I think a lot of people overlook things like that when the old 'wheel vs controller' discussion rears it's head again.
One mans sim is another mans arcade game. Some people might look at the games you choose to play, your wheel, your pedals, your rig, etc and think your choices aren't "real sim racing". Everyone can have an opinion on these things but sometimes opinions are best kept to ones self. I don't mean this in a condescending way, its just this type of conversation has been around for decades and it never gets anywhere it usually just offends people.omg.
Did i say playing with stick or pad isn't allowed or bad? NO
Did i say gaming isn't fun? NO
Did i just express my personal view on comparing fun racing (arcade/game) versus sim racing ? YES.
it seems not to be allowed to have a personal opinionespecially when i see when moderators ( normally neutral in opinion) start bashing.
I play several arcade racing games in front of my TV and its great fun. But i wouldn't call it sim racing. Thats all.
it is easy to say, but some people may not have enough space or enough money to buy new wheel set. In my country all brands are so expensive so i keep playing with Razer gamepad. But im happy to you buy new wheel enjoy it while you can. Good luck.My wheel arrived today and though I do not have much time in PMR, yet, my initial exposure was with a gamepad. Was not a fan. I guess it depends what you think is "fine". Yes controllers are functional, but they don't feel great. I thought they made many improvements in this area in pcars 3 compared to their previous titles and was expecting this title to be pretty good on a pad, but imo it isn't.You can totally do fine with a gamepad setting up it properly and training it.
Gamepad doesn't hinder your protentional pace but what's true is that it's easier to make a mistake and harder to correct it. Still can be quick but way less forgiving.
Fine to play the game and be competitive. Ofc there shouldn't be compromises in physics to appeal controller player base, but if you want to play with a controller - you can do it. Set up the curve that fits you best, get stick and triggers extenders and train. There is no physical limitation to be as fast as wheel. The feel is purely subjective. To me personally PMR feels on a controller way better than other titles, as it gives you an option to use controller in a wheel mode and gives you honest physics with no filters or unnecessary assists that you can't turn off.I guess it depends what you think is "fine". Although I use a wheel in this game, I think this should be a higher priority than it seems to be considering the importance of console players.
The type of controller you use has nothing to do with the physics. Everyones allowed their opinion of course, but I don't think many share yours that the gamepad implementation is better than most.Fine to play the game and be competitive. I think we have differing opinions on this games physics as i dont consider it a hardcore sim as they're still adjusting and adding things to the simulation so its a work in progress. I use a wheel in this game but i have an xbox elite controller also and I do use an extended stick, but this is not common.Tell competitive console shooter players, that gamepad mods are extreme. It's normal way to enhance precision. Properly tuned controller allows to drive most hardcore sims that were not initially intended for a controller.
And yeah, controller has nothing to do with physics, but applied filters do. Moreover, since you've mentioned PC3, surprise surprise many racing games build their physics to be more accessible on controllers. Devs just won't tell you, "oh you know we hindered our physic in the way that average console player can drive it on a default controller with stick drift".
