Has there been any mention from S4 of the current state of ride height adjustments?

It seems odd to allow negative values and you gain a substantial amount of camber by doing so (going from a max of -3.5 to over -5). Give you an idea of what -5 camber looks like (link to Instagram photo).
 
It's a negative value based on the standard geometry.
As you lower the car and don't adjust anything else, you naturally get more -ve camber (generalised based on independent suspension)
That's how real cars work.

However, making one small adjustment on one angle and needing to re-adjust others is over-complicating the entire thing.
And probably why there were so many other issues up until now.

Focus on making the box handle correctly and FFB feel realistic, then worry about the other parts of the game.

I would 100% take a locked setup and zero "per-car" FFB settings if it's been thoroughly tested and implemented as correct to a real car on that track. That is how each and every car should come to the user as the Default setup.

If you can't get the physics and baseline setup correct, then nothing makes sense.
ALL games are guilty of this (I can't speak of iRacing, I don't have access to it)

Example, I want to get into the new FG Falcon at Bathurst, and it feel "real"
But the gear ratios are all wrong, teh steering rack rate is miles off, and the FFB is horrible.
After hours of tweaking, it is "ok"
but like every car, you can cheat the understeer by just continue winding on steering lock and it goes around teh corners at almost any speed.
You do that in the real thing and too much lock has you into the wall every corner. they NEED to get the tyre slip correct.

I understand what it is an how it works, but it's broken. These cars don't run with -5 camber. Also, the physics (and FFB) do weird things if you drop the suspension as low as it goes which is likely why people complain about the FFB. There is an uncontrollable wobble at some of these cambers as the cars aren't suppose to supported it.

In general, 0 ride height in sim games are the minimum.

Every game has a different philosophy WRT the default ride height
 
BTW, as you are aware with dynamic setups, there are other settings you can do to get more than that (this is the GT4 Supra). I only did one simple change which is the negative ride height on the front.
 
Totally agree with @Mahjik
Moreover, there are too much freedom in setups for some cars like Mazda MX-5 or Porsche GT3 Cup I guess. You are not allowed to change things in real world series that you are allowed to change in the game.
Would love to see more realistic setup options for each class/car
 
And one more thing that should probably go to bug reports.
Example. I did ranked GT4 at San Marino in a Porsche. Tried to go with default setup and high 1:51s is what I managed to achive. Average laptime is somewhere 1:52. 1:53s laps happen if I need to correct the car that is snappy

Then I went max negative camber front and rear and -30mm ride height front and rear so I got deeply negative camber -5.x degrees
And the car started to grip like crazy, felt like a GT3 and I instantly did low 1:50s laps. I think can do even faster as it's nowhere near the limit.

It seems that there is a big flaw somewhere that results into the fact that the more negative camber you set - the more grip you have. At least at certain cars/classed for sure.
 
At least using the same test I did above (with the GT4 Supra), you can no longer lower the car that much on patch 2.0. It does allow a few ticks of negative height (which still baffles me) but not enough to get that -5 degrees of camber.

I didn't check others cars (like the Miata) but assume it's across the board. Will check more later today.
 
Yeah you can't get -30mm ride height in GT4s anymore but max negative camber you can get is still meta for grip. Maybe that's correct from the physics pespective, but it has not drawback on tirewear. All new tire models seem to not account camber too much when wearing.

Previously (before GT4 tire model overhaul) wear was havily dependant on camber, so if you had max negative camber inner part of the thread weared and heated alot.

On new tire models that is not possible. Tires wear slowly (ok, that's hards, so maybe that's correct) but evenly regardless of camber
 
For Porsche 992 Cup maximum negative camber on both ends and lowest ride height on both ends is still meta. -5.something camber front and almost -5 rear.
